Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the operation of China's digital industry in the first half of 2026. Data shows that in the first half of the year, China's digital industry accelerated its development, showing an overall trend towards optimization and improvement. Business revenue maintained rapid growth, profitability improved significantly, export demand remained strong, core technologies accelerated innovation breakthroughs, and new fields and tracks of development momentum increased. This provided strong support for stabilizing economic growth, cultivating and developing new quality productivity, and empowering the digital transformation of thousands of industries and hundreds of industries.

The quality and efficiency of development have steadily improved. In the first half of the year, the revenue of the digital industry remained stable and made progress, achieving a revenue of 20.71 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.6%, with a growth rate accelerating by 4.1 percentage points year-on-year and 0.7 percentage points month on quarter in the first quarter. Driven by the dual growth of domestic demand for artificial intelligence and strong export growth, the profitability of the digital industry continues to improve, achieving a total profit of 1.79 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.3%, with a growth rate 10.3 percentage points faster than the same period last year. The revenue profit margin reached 8.6%, an increase of 0.7 percentage points compared to the same period last year.

Strong driving force from key regions and clusters. The trend of industrial agglomeration in major eastern provinces (cities) is significant. The top 10 provinces (cities) in digital industry revenue, such as Guangdong, Jiangsu, Beijing, Shanghai, and Zhejiang, have achieved a total business revenue of 1.721 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.2%, accounting for 83.1% of the national total, an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared to the same period last year, and contributing 87% to the growth of digital industry revenue in the country. The growth rate in the central region has accelerated, achieving a digital industry revenue of 2.86 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.3%, 18.7 percentage points faster than the same period last year, and 14.7 percentage points higher than the national average, with Anhui and Hubei leading in growth rate. Industrial clusters are flourishing. As of now, 16 national level advanced manufacturing clusters have been cultivated and built around digital industries such as integrated circuits and artificial intelligence. Leveraging these clusters, a number of backbone digital enterprises have been cultivated, which have become key support for promoting technological innovation, advancing high-end industrial upgrading, and shaping cluster competitive advantages.

Continuous optimization and upgrading of digital infrastructure. The construction of the "dual gigabit" network has been upgraded and upgraded. As of the end of June, the number of 5G base stations has reached 5.102 million, and the number of 10G PON ports with gigabit network service capabilities has reached 32.86 million. The construction and application of 5G-A commercial networks have been accelerated, and the number of 5G RedCap base stations has reached 2.247 million. Ten gigabit optical networks have been piloted and deployed in residential areas, factories, parks, and other scenarios. The improvement of computing infrastructure system is accelerating, and the scale of intelligent computing power in China has reached 2185 EFLOPS (FP16), a year-on-year increase of 177%. The overall deployment rate of computing power facilities in the country has reached 71.4%, and 52 intelligent computing facilities with a capacity of over 10000 calories have been built. The effectiveness of integrated applications continues to be released, with over 80000 virtual private networks built in the 5G industry. 5G and gigabit optical network applications have been integrated into 94 major categories of the national economy. More than 26000 "5G+Industrial Internet" projects are under construction nationwide, and 1260 5G factories with distinctive characteristics and classification have been built.

The digital manufacturing industry continues to maintain a simultaneous increase in both quantity and efficiency. In the first half of the year, production maintained rapid growth, and the added value of the electronics industry increased by 14.8% year-on-year, with a growth rate 1.2 percentage points faster than the first quarter and 9.4 percentage points higher than the overall industry. Among them, the industries of electronic devices, electronic components and specialized materials, and smart consumer devices are growing rapidly. The efficiency has significantly improved, and the electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size has achieved a revenue of 12.15 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.8%; The total profit reached 703.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 66%. Among them, the industries of integrated circuits, computer manufacturing, and electronic specialized materials have the greatest profit driving effect.

The digital service industry maintains steady growth. The overall operation of the information and communication industry is stable, with a year-on-year increase of 8.3% in the total amount of telecommunications services calculated at the same unit price as the previous year, an increase of 0.6 percentage points in growth rate compared to the same period last year. The business revenue of software and information technology services industry increased by 9.5% year-on-year, among which the revenue of software products increased by 6.9% year-on-year and the revenue of information technology services increased by 10.4% year-on-year. The business income of Internet enterprises above designated size increased by 10.1% year on year, 7 percentage points faster than that of the same period last year, and the total profit increased by 16.6% year on year.
